Intent

Our curriculum is ambitious and comprehensive for all pupils by providing them with access to a range of scientific ideas, developments and practical opportunities to apply their knowledge and extend their understanding. Students are encouraged to be curious about the natural world and are supported in obtaining the substantive and disciplinary knowledge to ask questions, solve problems and to make informed decisions in scientific contexts. We prepare students to become active, responsible members of the community who think critically, can judge arguments and make informed choices for themselves, the environment and the planet. We aim to inspire students to pursue science into higher education and as a career by ensuring diversity is recognised and celebrated in the world of science.

“Science and everyday life cannot and should not be separated.” – Rosalind Franklin

All students will study a broad and balanced curriculum that is adapted to support the needs of all learners. All students receive equal access to the curriculum through regular retrieval practice, high quality teaching and learning and regular feedback. The curriculum is interleaved and builds upon the KS2 National curriculum to prepare students for their GCSE exams and further study.
