Year 11 Netball Tournament
On Wednesday afternoon the year eleven netball team competed in their final Preston schools netball tournament. The squad have been training hard every Friday lunchtime and were quietly confident going into the competition.
The conditions weren’t ideal, however, the girls did not let this phase them. They had some very closely contested matches. Millie Lonergan and Sophie Johnson shot well under pressure, whilst Mariyah Mal and Erin Blackburn marked their players tightly in the defensive circle making shooting opportunities difficult for our opponents. We played too quickly in the first couple of games and lost possession a few times, but we soon got into our stride.
Lucy Beesley, Mia Wilkinson, Holly Helm and Beth Moir started to play the ball well down court driving forward to create attacking opportunities. The team won four out of their seven games and drew the rest. Consequently, we finished second overall behind Broughton, who just managed to win two more matches than us, resulting in them accumulating four more points overall. A great effort from all the team and a brilliant way to end their netball career at Our Lady’s.
Thank you also to Katy Brown, Freya Jones, Lucy Mulholland and Judy Elbbany from year 10 who came and helped with the scoring.
