Our Lady’s ex-pupil Hugh Carthy is having a fantastic Grand Tour season as a professional cyclist with Team EF. After a great Tour de France result, finishing 37th overall, he has maintained his desire to win a Grand Tour by winning his first ever stage. On Sunday 1st November he conquered the Alto de l’Angliru in fine style to finish first on stage 12 of the Vuelta a España on what is known to be the hardest stage of the competition, gaining valuable seconds and moving into third place overall. We are all wishing Hugh the best of luck for the remaining 6 stages. Coverage of the Vuelta a España is being broadcast live on Eurosport.
