Blackpool Zoo Well-being Project
On Friday 21st September, 10 pupils attended Blackpool Zoo as part of a a project aimed at encouraging positive health and well-being. The activities are designed to allow pupils to develop new skills, such as decision making and problem solving, encourage working both independently and as part of a team and help pupils to build confidence in their own abilities. Our pupils learnt about small animals – specifically the difference between vertebrates and invertebrates. They then had the opportunity to hold some invertebrates, including rather large cockroaches!! This was followed up by producing enrichment for the otters, a clean of the wallaby enclosure and finally the chance to try and feed the wallabies, who were very shy! It was a fantastic day and our pupils started to work well as a team; despite being from different year groups.
