Marafiki Gardening Club Harvest
On Thursday 29th June the Marafiki Gardening club had their first harvest!
This was the lettuce that had been donated by Colin (a member of our site team). They had grown to a size that was ready to be dug up.
The area where the lettuce were planted had the sun all day long (well when it was out!) and had grown faster than expected. The lettuce were donated to the school kitchen and were then used as part of the school dinners on that day.
Pupils of the Gardening club have been following a rota to maintain the garden which obviously paid off. This has included watering and general maintenance of the area. In the future we plan to grow vegetables on a larger scale so that we can supply the school kitchen with home grown produce.
