Life is Like a Piece of String
The new Religious Education Directory has recently been published for Catholic schools. Year 7 is following a scheme of work based on this. Pupils are currently working on the Dialogue and Encounter branch. As part of this, pupils learn about the non-religious world view of Humanism. They have been working out what the following saying from Humanism UK means: “Life is like a piece of string. It has a beginning and an end. We don’t get much say about that. But we can make choices about the bit in between. We have the freedom to shape our own lives.”
The Happy Human is the international symbol of Humanism.
