Outward Bound Expedition: Ogwen Valley, North Wales
Over the February half term, twenty four Year 9 pupils attended a weeklong Outward Bound Course in the Ogwen Valley, North Wales.
The aims of the expeditions are to build resilience, extend pupils’ comfort zones and gain an increased appreciation of the outdoors. Pupils took part in range of activities including kayaking, gill scrambling, gorge walking, mountain climbing and camping. All pupils threw themselves into the different activities and challenges.
The main event was a long-distance hike carrying food, stoves and tents. The boys groups camped out at 600m above sea level and got up for a 5:30am sunrise. They summited three mountains over 1000m too.
A great week and we were blessed with excellent weather too.
