Stitch a Tree Project
Members of the Marafiki Gardening Club were involved in the Thread Bearing Witness ‘Stitch a Tree’ project run by Manchester University. The project aimed to connect communities and individuals across the UK to show support for displaced people around the world. Pupils spent their lunch time stitching trees on to small fabric squares and learning about migration and connecting with different communities. Their work will be arranged into a large embroidery called Forest by artist Alice Kettle at the Whitworth, Manchester in September 2018.
