Leyland Trucks Visit
Year 10 Resistant Materials GCSE pupils visited Leyland Trucks on the 16th & 17th of Jan. Led by Mr Goring the groups enjoyed a tour of their world leading, commercial vehicle manufacturing site. During the visit they were shown the entire assembly process of their 3 current models. This was an opportunity to learn about ‘Just in Time’ manufacturing and how they use Computer Aided Design (CAD) to develop, test and visualise parts. Pupils also learnt how the site manages to manufacture 60 trucks a day whilst sending zero waste to landfill. The groups learnt how the latest technological innovations to meet Euro 6 emissions standards and prototype aluminium chassis vehicles keep Leyland Trucks at the cutting edge of British manufacturing.
